The team at 100wc.net have asked for our help for the children in the Philippines that have been affected by the Typhoon that hit on November 8, 2013. Any words of support can really make a difference to people who are having a rough time so this week’s prompt is to write: A Letter in a Bottle "Send some encouragement and hope to those children in the Phillipines so that they have the strength and courage to carry on." As usual, it is only to be 100 words long. We will post our letters on the Class Blog and link to the 100wc.net website to share our support. Over this weekend, you should be studying your four vocab words from this past week:
falsehood navigate kindling domestic This was a shot week of school, but your 100WC is due tomorrow, published on looseleaf paper. Tonight at home, you should read it out loud to a parent, brother, sister or friend to check for any errors before publishing it.
This week's 100 Word Challenge is: I felt the butterflies in my stomach... There was a group of friends walking in the woods. Their names were Alex, Dina, and Valeria. Alex found a puddle by a huge tree and of course he wanted to jump in it. His friends just waited for him to keep walking, but suddenly he stopped because Valeria saw that there was a sign saying, "Go back, if you dare." Then Alex said, "Whatever!" Until a girl appeared of no where saying, "Don't jump in the puddle!" and she disappeared. Then Dina yelled, "Oh my God!" "What?" Alex said. "Look, is that a person in the puddle? There's boots in there!" Dina shouted out. "We should tell someone" Valeria said. "No, let's just go back," demanded Alex. Then when they turned around a girl was there with ripped cuts in her clothes. She said, "What are you waiting for? Jump in the puddle."
"I hate the rain," Lisa exclaimed while looking out the winder. "Why don't you go outside and play?," Lisa's mom replied. "Fine, if you insist." When Lisa went outside she looked gloomy. "Ugh, the rain is so sad." Lisa was walking when she accidentally stepped in mud. "Gross, mud, it's starting to stick to me!" Lisa was then walking again and stepped in mud again. "Hey, this is kind of fun!" Lisa stepped in mud many times, and then she got all dirty. Lisa went back home. "How was the rain Lisa?," Mom asked. "Best rainy day ever!"
"Oh no! She's getting closer & closer!" exclaimed Pepe. "I'm gonna get you," said Medusa. Pepe was running towards a forest to dig a hole. He dug and dug until his head and waist were covered. Medusa used her sense of smell to find Pepe. She couldn't. He was too far away. But then Pepe cracked a branch. Medusa heard the branch crack so she ran to Pepe. She saw Pepe and snapped her fingers. Her snakes made Pepe's boots turn into a statue. Medusa was bursting of laughter like a child. But Pepe's alarm turned on and woke up. Thank goodness it was a dream.
One day there was a boy named Gabriel. He was a normal boy who was like the other kids, but he was stronger, faster, and more flexible. So one day, he saw some boys trying to do the longest handstand. But there was a kid named Angel who had the longest time: 10 minutes. So they asked Gabriel to try, but he noticed that some kids were cheating and he fell on the ground embarrassed. So when Gabriel got home he was furious and explained it to his parents. So Gabriel kept on trying and trying whenever he got home from school. He'd do pull ups to get stronger so he'll be ready for the next time. The next day he saw Angel break his high score it was 20 minutes. Luckily, Gabriel was prepared and started but then he noticed kids were throwing things and kept on dodging every one of them. Then people were shocked to see Gabriel make the world record for 2 hours and was respected.
"I stepped in a puddle, gross!" I said. "I hate puddles!" I saw a big rock that looked like gold. I stepped in the lake and I got dirt on my shoes. I looked in back of me and saw something under the water. I looked and saw something shiny. I got scared and went out of the pond. But something or someone didn't let me and grabbed my foot. I got so scared! I fainted and fell. I woke up in a house that was full of spiders. I got so scared that I fainted and never woke up.
