Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the most popular African American heroes. Do you know one of the reasons he decided to do the "I have a dream" speech? Well, when he was a young boy, his mother went walking down the street and Martin saw so many "White ONLY" signs. Martin asked his mom, "Why are we not standing up for ourselves? Can't we do something to bring peace?"
His mother answered, "You're too young to understand Martin." But Martin knew even one person could make a difference in this world, and his "I have a dream" speech helped change our world for the better.

CPS has closed schools tomorrow due to severe cold temperatures. Please dress warm and stay inside. It would be a good time to write in your journals, which you will be turning in on Tuesday :-)
